For those who do not know what 9th Muharram or Shab-e-Shahadat (night before martyrdom) is…
9th Muharram night is the most remembered night in the human history. This is the night before the day of Ashura when Imam Hussain (a.s.) and his family and companions were killed brutally by the huge army of Yazid a cruel occupant. This night nobody from the Hussain’s family and companions slept, everyone was knowing that this is going to be the last night of their life, so all of them spent the entire night in prayers. And the women of the Hussain (a.s.) family were advising their children to be brave and give their life for the sake of Allah and the humanity. 9th Muharram was one terrible night and Shia muslims observe this night by conducting majalis (lectures), mourning and prayers.
Bangalore Shab-e-Shahadat is one of the best in India. Below video was taken just after juloos started moving. 9th Muharram in Bangalore is observed in only one place i.e. Johnson Market, so everyone attends it and it makes it a very successful event. I will upload more this year’s 9th Muharram and 10th Muharram videos soon.
Following are the photos of Shab-e-Shahadat (9th Muharram night) in Bangalore. Bangalore’s Shab-e-Shahadat is one of the best in India, at least south India. My photos definitely does not reflect the grandness of the 9th Muharram night in Bangalore, but I thought of putting up whatever photos I took. The majalis, the intense matam, the josh, the enthusiasm, the grandness, the sabeel, the energy at its best. These photos are just tip of the iceberg.
The photos were taken yesterday 16th December 2010, on the night of 9th Muharram. Bangalore 9th Muharram night is not to be missed event, you can see people from many parts of India and also outside India. Along with momineen many other people do attend this event, some for the belief and some other for its grandness and uniqueness.
I liked the above photo over all other photos because of its wordings. Yes, humanity is above all, yes above religion, caste, tribe or anything. Prophet (s.a.w.a.s.) and his family members always thought humanity so being a good human must be the first priority of any muslim.

Alawa is getting ready. This Alawa of Bangalore is one of the best in the country. Well, Alawa is an old tradition in which people walk over burning coal but still does not get burnt. It is one of the many living miracles of azadari-e-Imam Hussain (a.s.).
The photo was taken when 9th Muharram juloos just started moving. Everyone should attend this juloos at least once in lifetime.
This photo was taken well towards the end of the juloos. After this juloos one more very good majlis takes place.
